The weekend before the 23rd I had been having some contractions, nothing painful but they were there. I had also been leaking what I thought at first was urine but wasn't sure. I walked a lot that weekend so I thought labor was on the way. I woke up Monday morning for a normal day of daycare and noticed I had leaked a lot during the night. Tyler had that day off so we decided to go in and just get it checked. My mom came over to do daycare and we left to what we thought would be a short check-up. We got to L&D and they did the entire shabang with us. Had me get in hospital gown, pee test, blood pressure, lay in hospital bed. I thought I would go in and they would check me real fast and wala were done. We had to wait forever after they tested me which was nerve wracking and also funny because we had quite the comedy show in the room next to us. A 35 weeker practically begging her doctor to deliver her baby because she just couldn't do it anymore. Our nurse was actually one of Shirley's friends that she really liked when working at Jordan Valley and we ended up delivering with her which was crazy. She came in and informed us that we had won the prize. Since I was leaking fluid and my blood pressure was really high (148/104) and that I was 39 weeks they would induce me. I have been against inducing but for these reasons I didn't really get a choice or say in the matter, it was In Gage's best interest and I was going to have a baby that day if I liked it or not.
After about a million phone calls we were all set in our room with a pitocin drip and all ready to go. The nurse informed us that most inductions take around 12-16 hours so we informed our family that it would be awhile. Most of them didn't listen though and showed up shortly after the phone calls, which in the end I'm glad they did. About an hour after the pitocin I started feeling contractions, and they were getting worse and worse. They were starting to get to be 1-2 min apart and they were really painful. I asked for the epi and the nurse informed me that it would be an hour. No way could I make it an hour, I was dying already! I suffered through about an hour more of these contractions and finally got my epi!!! James was like a saint walking through the doors followed by applause and all smiles. Its so funny, I don't remember a lot like who was in the room at this time or who has holding my hand because my room was filled with people but I will always remember how happy I was to see James. I got the Epi which didn't hurt at all! I was so scared about the Epi but compared to the contractions the epi was a massage. After that everything was smooth sailing. I went from a 2 to a 7 in about 2 hours. Then from a 7 to a 10 in about an hour. The epi started weening off and they had to up my dose again which I'm glad they did because next thing I knew I was a 10 and needed to start pushing.
Pushing was something I wasn't ready for, but I was surprisingly very good at. It was my mom, Tyler, My doctor, and Nurse in the room and things were so calm and we were actually laughing at a few points. I only pushed for 20 minutes and out came Gage and he started crying instantly. He scored a 9 on his apgar tests and Tyler cut the cord. When he came out it was the most rewarding feeling I have ever experienced. Pitocin started at 12:30 p.m. and I delivered Gage at 6:30 p.m. so dont always listen to your nurses. I will never forget this day, I wont forget Tyler's face, my mom, Gage's first screams and him sucking his thumb 10 minutes after birth. I will never forgot the room full of people all there to support us and meet Gage, love you all! I'm extremely lucky and so blessed to have such a beautiful little boy. He is perfect, and every time I look at him I see Tyler and thats what I always wanted. I have a family now and that's something I have always wanted!!

The birth of little Gage was beautiful just like your little family!
I'm so happy things went well for you. Your story sounds a lot like mine! And same hours practically. My doctor was surprised that he came so fast too. They told me about 20 hrs or more for the first one, he came in 8! so I loved that! He is lucky to have such good parents! I know you two will love him more than anyone else could!
Glad to hear things weren't too dramatic... it sounds like it went pretty well! Aren't epidurals AMAZING?!? I was so scared of them at first too, but now I wouldn't do it any other way! I'm so happy for you guys, and I love the pics! Can't wait for more, and I sure hope his jandice goes away soon!
